Can people change?
Some might say yes, the rest might say no. Some will choose to stand in between.
Well, as a matter of fact, I do believe that people could change. It takes courage, it takes times, and it takes realization, but it is possible. But let me tell you one thing: people are often mistaken as to that which constitutes change and which does not, because life presents us with various situations and conditions that are very different, so different that we can be forced to react and take action differently in different circumstances. We are being stretched.
How many times have we seen someone who seems so kind and purely altruistic, and then runs for president the following day? And then we vote for that very someone. We vote because we see things as they are; we believe he is a purely generous soul, and thus conclude that things just cannot go wrong under his/her term of office. The next thing we know, he/she started to act and make decisions which are questionable. People start to ask questions like ‘How can he/she do such thing?’ And then people think that this very someone, the one that we had voted for, has changed.
I refuse to believe that that is the case. I think people do not change so easily, let alone in a short period of time. I believe that very someone already had a character which we had not known previously. Why hadn’t we known earlier? Because he/she is just not presented with the options to act and/or make decisions the way he/she does when he/she is presented with a certain situation.
I am not being skeptical. I do not believe that people change easily. Hokay, let’s face it! Give and take, I truly think people can change +/- 15%. You think 15% is too little? Yeah I could not agree more. But hey, maybe that 15% is what we need.
